Oops: How a Pro-Bernie Twitter #Hashtag Ended Up Backfiring Spectacularly
Take today, for example. In a well-intentioned attempt to show the people power of the Sanders movement, the Sanders communications team put together the Twitter hashtag of #MyBernieStory, which was supposed to highlight how and why people got involved with the campaign. However, Sanders' team is clearly unfamiliar with both Twitter as well as the overwhelming animosity toward Sanders on the platform, which was quickly evident by the fact that the hashtag was hijacked to highlight Sanders' failures rather than his successes. Here are some of the highlights, with many more to emerge in the coming hours.

The year was 2016 and Bernie was already long eliminated from contention.
An actual Democrat would have stopped torpedoing the nominee and worked to defeat Drumpf but Bernie had books to sell.
The end.

Guess who? #MyBernieStory
Having to watch the first Black president hand the keys to the Oval to a racist, xenophobic, rapist, because Bernie didn't know when to sit his ass down in the primary. 🖕🏾 #myberniestory— Donut Seductress Says the NLRB is a Cop (@VeeCeeMurphy76) August 12, 2019

In 2006 Bernie Sanders voted FOR a right wing bill supporting infamous border militia group "THE MINUTEMEN"
Members of this group would go on to harass, assault and even murder undocumented latinos including 7 yr old Brisenia Flores & her dad Raul pic.twitter.com/z5OzXzHrIX

Bernie Sanders did nothing in 2016 to reign in his sexist supporters.
I was called 'whore' on multiple occasions and a supporter said I should be raped for supporting Hillary.
To think this couldn't happen let me remind you of the "Bern the Witch" rally
#MyBernieStory During the 2016 presidential campaign, I wrote a silly column gently poking fun at Bernie Sanders. It led to more death threats that I’ve ever received, and one particularly hideous email wishing death on me and my family. 👍— Rex Huppke (@RexHuppke) August 12, 2019
Mission Accomplished.#myberniestory - when Bernie Sanders claimed that racists being “uncomfortable” voting for Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams were not necessarily racist, I was inspired to torpedo his campaign by any means necessary pic.twitter.com/zE6UqFlhyq— The Speaker’s Dragonzord (@PelosiSquadFive) August 12, 2019
